2020 Annual Meeting

The Commission’s 2020 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana would have focused on marine mammal science and management issues specific to the Gulf of Mexico. The meeting topics included an overview of the oceanographic and ecologic characteristics of the region, impacts to marine mammals after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010, restoration funding and other mechanisms to address management needs, and discussions of the science, management, and threats facing bottlenose dolphins, endangered Gulf of Mexico Bryde’s whales, manatees, and other offshore marine mammals.

Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, the Marine Mammal Commission decided to cancel its Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for 28-30 April in New Orleans.
